Barriers and facilitators influencing medication-related CDSS acceptance according to clinicians: A systematic review

A medication-related Clinical Decision Support System (CDSS) is an application that analyzes patient data to provide assistance in care processes. Despite its potential improve the clinical decision-making process, evidence shows clinicians do not always use CDSSs such a way their can be fully realized. This systematic literature review provides overview of frequently-reported barriers and facilitators for acceptance CDSS. Search terms MeSH headings were developed collaboration with librarian, database searches conducted Medline, Scopus, Embase Web Science Conference Proceedings. After screening 5404 records 140 full papers, 63 articles included this review. Quality assessment was performed all articles. The identified are categorized within Human, Organization, Technology fit (HOT-fit) model. total 327 291 identified. Results show factors most often reported related (a lack of) usefulness relevance information, ease efficiency system. valuable insight into broad range using CDSS as perceived by clinicians. results used stepping stone future studies developing CDSSs.
